The winning SMEs received a subsidy that will cover 60% of the cost of a 2 square meter stand at Expomin 2025, Latin America’s leading mining fair, to be held April 22-25 in Santiago. In addition, selected companies will have access to the Business Roundtable, where they will be able to meet individually with potential buyers from the sector during the fair. To date, more than 70 winning SMEs have already accepted the grant and confirmed their participation in Expomin 2025. For the winning companies, the deadline for accepting the subsidy and confirming their participation is March 14, 2025. Federico Huneeus, Professor of Economics at Duke University and leader of the organizing team, said: “We are very pleased with the excellent response to the competition. There were more than 450 companies registered, which shows a great interest from SMEs in the sector”. “The winning SMEs offer a wide range of products and services, such as AI mapping software, drones for mine inspection, and geotechnical and geophysical consulting services.” He added, “These initiatives are key for SMEs to close trade gaps and increase their competitiveness in the mining sector.” This initiative also has the strategic support of FISA and Corporación Alta Ley, which see SMEs as an essential engine for the economic growth and sustainable development of the industry in Chile. María de los Ángeles Troncoso, commercial manager of Expomin, valued the levels of participation in the contest: “This motivates us to continue promoting this type of activities, there were many companies that participated, which demonstrates the success of this initiative, which will surely be repeated”.
