The secretary of state, along with the manager of the international fair, Francisco Sotomayor, revealed that this year the exhibition will have a pavilion for entrepreneurship and innovation. Minister of Mining, Baldo Prokurica, together with Expomin Manager, Francisco Sotomayor, leaded the launch of the international mining fair that will take place from April 20th to 24th, which this year has as motto “Mining facilitating the future”. This time, the secretary of state pointed that “this is a great opportunity to show the world what Chile is doing in the mining industry, and also to create bonds between provider countries of the sector, either Chileans or foreigners, to face the challenges that this industry has”. The highest authority of the portfolio declared that “this year, the exhibition will have a space that will allow Chilean providers and startups to present their innovations that, in our view, are a formula to export intelligence and services. We believe that Expomin will open an opportunity to incorporate the Chilean Mining into the whole world and also to receive exhibitors with new technologies”. In this vein, Expomin Manager, Francisco Sotomayor, explained that “in this space, even though entrepreneurs will be able to access at lower cost, they will have the support of several institutions, because we are looking to contribute and we want the innovation and technology of our national startups to be present, and also give them the instance of connecting with more than 5000 foreigners visitors of the exhibition”. Sotomayor highlighted that with only 2 months remaining for the exhibition “we are very satisfied, considering the confirmed exhibitors that we have by this time, we have over 80% of the spaces sold, we have confirmed the participation of 29 countries and we are waiting for the ratification of more”. He added that they are optimistic with this edition that celebrates 30 years, and argued that “the completion of the fair demonstrates the stability and projection that this exhibition of international category has, and the interest that generates in the mining sector around the world, because a fair is not only an exhibit of stands, visitors and exhibitors, but the reflection of a sector in their different stakeholders, investors and authorities at international level”. Expomin Projections The invited country of the 2020 edition is the United States, which will have a strong presence with over 1000 square meters of exhibition.
