Expomin begins preparations for its XVII version to be held between April 24 and 27, 2023

The strategic committee defined the focus of the international congress, analyzing the mining ecosystem, the reality of the industry today, its challenges and current opportunities. After the meeting they highlighted that within the topics that the exhibition will address are: Innovation, Decarbonization, Inclusion and Diversity, Hydrogen in Mining, Sustainability, Supplier Development, Desalination, Investments and Supply. Outlining the topics that Expomin will address between April 24 and 27, 2023 was one of the main objectives of the first meeting of the Strategic Committee composed of the president of Women in Mining Chile, Tamara Leves; the director of Studies and Public Policies of Cochilco, Jorge Cantallopts; the past president of Aprimin, Pascual Veiga; the executive director of Aprimin, Sergio Hernandez; the general manager of Ecometales, Iván Valenzuela and the executive director of Expomin, Francisco Sotomayor. After the meeting, the executive director of Expomin, Francisco Sotomayor, said that “the meeting outlined the main focuses of the meeting, which will be aimed at the entire mining world and those who wish to participate in this great exhibition”. He added that “one of the great challenges as organizers of this meeting is to provide solutions to current conflicts and to be a guide for the development of the mining activity at a national and international level. Likewise, the industry has the option of making changes in line with today’s world and the people who make it up, promoting sustainable technological development, renewable energies, electromobility, reduction of emissions, thinking about the future of mining”. During the meeting, the committee analyzed the mining market trend, the development of technological solutions to optimize various areas of the extractive activity, projections of the value of copper and its demand abroad, alternatives to create new job opportunities in mining, among others. The importance of innovation for the future of the mining industry in key areas, such as the incentive to hire local workers, the relationship with communities, the strengthening of the inclusion of women and people with disabilities in mining, were other aspects considered relevant to include in next year’s international meeting. They also indicated that the contents considered to date for the Expomin 2023 international congress are: Innovation, Decarbonization, Inclusion and Diversity, Hydrogen in Mining, Sustainability, Supplier Development, Desalination, Investment and Supply. At the event, the Executive Director of Aprimin, Sergio Hernández, stated that “we have put forward ideas and the focus that the fair should have in view of the current circumstances, which provide very powerful topics of great interest to the mining industry. powerful and of great interest to the mining world, such as innovation, sustainability, inclusion and community relations, in other words, modern mining that contributes to society for a much cleaner and better planet for others”. Likewise, Hernández invited the entire mining industry to be part of Expomin 2023. “Because it is a very important instance to continue stimulating innovation, new technologies, the contribution to communities and environmental care in mining.” For her part, the president of Women in Mining Chile, Tamara Leves, indicated that “for us, Expomin has always been an ally, where together we have empowered and made women in the mining industry more visible, incorporating them in technical panels as well as in facilitation. This is also due to the strong commitment we have with the Women and Mining table, and today we are acting in coherence. We are very happy for this invitation and to be able to make Expomin 2023 successful for all parties”.
