Santiago, Chile – Expomin 2025 is preparing for a new edition with a proposal focused on generating opportunities for companies, technological innovation, sustainability and a mining industry that is more connected to the public. This Wednesday at the Ministry of Mining the last Expanded Committee of Expomin 2025 was held, headed by Minister Aurora Williams together with representatives of mining companies, unions and executives of Fisa, the company organizing the event. At the event, the renewed format of the fair was presented with the Citizen’s Day, the progress of the International Congress and a series of new initiatives, such as the mobility plan, the measurement of the carbon footprint, and the strengthening of the innovation pavilions, startups and Finland as the guest country. “We are only days away and the truth is that it is important to highlight the esprit de corps and collaboration that have been permanent themes to face an Expomin with high expectations and that takes on the various challenges facing the mining industry”, commented the Minister of Mining, Aurora Williams. “I thank those who have worked tirelessly to successfully develop this fair and we have no doubt that next week will be a week of great conversations and also of great news at a time when Chilean mining plays a relevant role in global markets. We have no doubt that we are one of the major players in the global mining industry today”, added the authority. With more than 1,300 exhibiting companies from 35 countries, and a projected 70 thousand visitors, Expomin 2025 is consolidating itself as a key platform for accelerating the transformation of the mining ecosystem and opening up concrete spaces for growth for the different actors in the value chain. “In this edition we want companies to live a real connection experience with new customers, partners and solutions. From the architecture of the Congress to the networking spaces, everything is designed to generate value,” said Francisco Sotomayor, executive director of Expomin. Juan Pablo Schaeffer, Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability of Anglo American, also highlighted the collaborative nature of the event: “We are closing a cycle that began a few months ago, in which we asked different actors linked to the industry what type of fair they wanted, and today we are facing a fair that we hope will be the most important mining fair in Latin America, that is what we are betting on. We have international guests, the day of talent, of technologies, and, above all, the Citizen’s Day where the exhibition will be open to the community”. On this aspect, in addition, Schaeffer also made a call in the prelude to the event. “We want to invite all families from Friday at 3:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm to learn what we do, how we do it, how we have been innovating the way we do mining; so we are very happy. Therefore, we invite you all to participate, from April 22 to 26, in the fair and the Expomin Congress, which this year is chaired by our CEO, Patricio Hidalgo”. Mobility, innovation and sustainability The Expomin 2025 Mobility Plan includes free transportation from the Parque Arauco shopping center, signage and bilingual information for international visitors from the airport, and optimized access to Espacio Riesco, seeking to reduce the environmental impact of the event and facilitate the arrival of attendees (more information on transportation alternatives). In addition, it was confirmed that Expomin will be carbon neutral, thanks to the measurement and compensation of its carbon footprint at all stages of the event, in collaboration with Colbún. “Making Expomin 2025 the first carbon-neutral mining fair in Chile is a responsibility we are proud of as it is in line with our corporate purpose and contributes to promoting sustainable practices not only in the energy sector, but also in mining, thus also collaborating with the sustainability goals of our clients who belong to that industry. This milestone not only reflects what we can achieve today, but also charts a path towards the long-term sustainable future that we want to promote together with the mining ecosystem: one that is low in greenhouse gas emissions and in balance with the planet,” said Daniel Gordon, Colbún’s Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Manager. The innovation and startup pavilion will double its surface area compared to the previous version, and will feature more than 70 companies presenting technological solutions applied to the main challenges of mining. “We want Expomin to also be a model of good practices, connecting mining with people, with the environment and with the future. That is why we are talking about an open, sustainable and collaboration-oriented fair,” added Francisco Sotomayor. Citizens’ Day: mining for all One of the main novelties will be the opening of Expomin to the public on Saturday, April 26. This special day will be focused on families and will include guided tours, interactive areas, machinery exhibits and educational experiences to bring mining closer to children and young people. “Open to the Community Day reflects our commitment to a mining industry that is open to society, that educates and inspires. We want everyone to know the value that this industry brings to the country and the planet,” concluded Francisco Sotomayor.
