“Reimagining Mining in Latin America”: Check the program of the XVIII International Congress Expomin 2025

The Congress, organized together with Anglo American, will address the challenges and opportunities of mining in the region.

From April 22 to 26, 2025, Espacio Riesco will be the meeting point for mining in Latin America at Expomin 2025, which presents its XVIII International Congress, under the name “Reimagining Mining in Latin America”. This year’s edition of the Congress, organized together with Anglo American and chaired by Patricio Hidalgo, CEO of Anglo American Chile, will bring together leaders, experts and key players in the sector to discuss technology, sustainability, challenges and the future of the mining sector. “For the 2025 version of the Expomin International Congress, we have carried out a very enriching collaborative work in order to reach different audiences, from the main players in the mining industry to the generations of young professionals who will lead the industry in the future. We have invited top-level international speakers, we have programmed cultural events and, for the first time, we decided to extend the fair until Saturday 26th to encourage the attendance of the public, bringing mining closer to families”, commented Hidalgo. The Congress will be attended by prominent national and international speakers, including government authorities, industry executives, entrepreneurs and relevant international speakers who will provide key perspectives on various topics relevant to the mining industry. One of them is Vikram Mansharamani, an expert in global trends and former Harvard professor, is recognized for his analysis of factors that generate disruption in the business world. Andrew Winston, one of the most influential voices in sustainability and business worldwide, will also be present. Ranked number 3 in Thinkers50, he has been making a difference in the way companies face environmental and social challenges. The other featured speaker is Zack Kass, former Director of Market Strategy at OpenAI. He has led teams at leading companies and has established himself as an optimistic voice on the future of artificial intelligence. His mission is to ensure that individuals, businesses and governments are actively engaged in the AI-driven revolution. The following are the main activities of the International Congress:   Tuesday, April 22 -Inaugural ceremony Expomin 2025. -Plenary panel: “Mining after mining: a new beginning”. Exhibition by SONAMI. -Keynote speaker Andrew Winston, expert in sustainable business. -Reflection on ESG criteria with the Minister of Mining Aurora Williams, Máximo Pacheco, President of CODELCO and Arturo Natho, CEO of Copec.   Wednesday, April 23 -Presentation by Mario Marcel, Minister of Finance. -Keynote: “Artificial Intelligence: Where are we going?” by Zack Kass. -Panels on equitable participation and business-community linkages. -Discussion on profitability and responsibility in projects, and carbon neutrality in the industry. -Talent development and the Finland-Chile vocational technical education model. Emotional well-being and job security.   Thursday, April 24. -Permisology and mining: presentation and panel discussion with industry experts. -Presentation on “Mining and energy” by José Ignacio Escobar, CEO of Colbún S.A. -Panels on clean energy and decarbonization in mining, and Chile as a strategic mineral pole.   Friday, April 25 -Keynote Vikram Mansharamani, expert on global trends. -Infrastructure and mining: presentations by the Minister of Public Works and Tomás Folch, Master in Landscape Architecture, Harvard University Graduate School. -Discussion on public policies for sustainable growth with Ignacio Briones and Oscar Landerretche.   This XVIII International Congress of Expomin 2025 will be a key platform to discuss the future of mining in the region, with a focus on technology, innovation, sustainability and economic development.
