Sharing the digital ecosystem around digitization, electrification and automation solutions designed for subway and surface mining equipment is the objective of Epiroc Chile at Expomin 2023. So says its General Manager, John Swift, who emphasizes that “we have set the challenge for visitors to live the mining experience of the future at our stand. For this, they will have the opportunity to test our equipment and digital solutions in scenarios as close as possible to the real ones, while still showing our traditional equipment”. The big novelty within the Swedish firm’s stand – which will be located in the open area zone (Stand AD – C20/C25) and has more than 600 m2 – will be a space called The Epiroc Experience, dedicated to exhibiting the automation, digitalization, data management, electrification and other solutions it offers for subway and surface mining operations. “The incorporation of technology and innovations has allowed us to demonstrate to our customers the advantages of digital mining and automation in mining operations. And during Expomin, those who visit us will learn about the support we provide so that they have control of what is happening with their equipment and how and how much they are producing. For example, they will have the chance to see how we have become leaders in surface automation,” explains Swift. The Epiroc Experience will promote technology solutions such as Mobilaris, a mining intelligence platform that provides up-to-date subway mine information, location and detailed, real-time data on vehicles, equipment and personnel, presented in sophisticated 3D user interfaces. “The software guarantees an increase in safety, operational excellence and productivity. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the advantages of Certiq, a telematics solution that collects, compares and communicates vital equipment information for surface and subway operations,” explains Carlos Valencia, Business Line Manager (Acting) of Epiroc Chile’s Digital Solutions division. As part of the mining experience of the future, visitors to Epiroc’s more than 600 square meters of booth space will be able to experience virtual reality scenarios in a specially dedicated space. For example, they will have the chance to experience the battery exchange of a 100% electric subway equipment. Focus on service and exploration In addition to the full range of equipment and digital solutions, the Swedish firm is focusing on the Exploration area, through the new OreBody Solutions business line, which will include traditional drilling equipment; exploration consumables; and associated spare parts and technical service. Epiroc’s booth will also have a special space dedicated to the exhibition of drilling steels and demolition equipment to be mounted on Brokk excavators and radio-controlled equipment. Among the equipment that Epiroc will exhibit is the Minetruck MT65 truck, from the client Pucobre, which underwent the “Midlife” service, which allows extending the useful life of a piece of equipment, after replacing old components with new ones, so that a used piece of equipment returns to maximum productivity and operating efficiency, at a fraction of the cost of a new machine. In addition, visitors to Expomin will have the opportunity to see a FlexiROC D65 surface drilling rig, a perfect balance of productivity and efficiency that has set a new benchmark for down-the-hole drilling in mining and large quarry applications. Invitation to experiment Swift emphasizes that innovation and sustainability are part of the Swedish company’s DNA, and in that sense “our strategy is focused on always finding the best solutions for our customers. Today we are focused on the new way of mining, based on automation, digitalization and interconnection, along with providing safer and healthier work spaces for miners”. “We are proud to bring our wide range of products and digital solutions to Expomin. We want our current customers, as well as potential customers and students who will be the future workers of the mining industry, to be part of our ecosystem during the 4 days in which Chile and Expomin will be the center of the global mining industry”, he says. The executive adds that “we cordially invite visitors to Expomin to learn about our broad portfolio of equipment and solutions for mining and infrastructure. And especially to live in our stand the experience of digital mining through The Epiroc Experience”.
