At Metropolitan Santiago, the executive director of Expomin, Francisco Sotomayor, and Cristián Sanhueza, general director of Metaverso Ltda. -Minverso’s parent company, signed an agreement to incorporate the metaverso platform in the mining event. With the help of Minverso, the first mining metaverse in the world, those who attend the Expomin 2023 international fair and congress between April 24 and 27 will be able to access virtual reality glasses that will allow them to “live” the experience of being in a mining site. The main mining fair in Latin America will offer in its XVII version an immersive reality tour to its visitors, thanks to the Chilean start up Minverso, the first mining metaverse in the world, which will provide virtual reality glasses to the visitors of the event, to be held between April 24 and 27, at the new fairground Parque Fisa in Pudahuel. The idea is that participants can “live” the experience of being in a mining site, learn about the machinery and processes involved in working in a mine, as Minverso has been doing in a personalized way with various clients since its launch at the end of 2021. Renowned national and foreign companies, such as Codelco and FLS Smidth are already part of the ecosystem created by this national start up and its metaversal realities. “With Minverso we contribute in a digital transformation of a demanding industry such as mining, a tool that is already generating unprecedented changes in the industry and worldwide”, commented Rodrigo González, founder and CTO of the company, who recalled that “our main challenge, when we started with this project almost two years ago, was how to avoid the risks involved in the mining activity, but knowing and experiencing the use of machinery, and so we created the first mining metaverse in the world”. Meanwhile, the executive director of Expomim 2023, Francisco Sotomayor, noted that “in this new version, where we will have 40 innovative startups that seek to improve production processes in mining, we found it interesting that virtual reality is also there, which allows you to explore 3D virtual spaces in which you can socialize, learn and collaborate. An example of this is what Minverso will present. The institution is committed to providing its clients with the most complex scenarios of mining sites without putting the worker at risk, considering that recent studies confirm that the use of this technology quadruples the speed of learning in relation to traditional education, and is even superior in relation to teaching through video calls or virtual classrooms. Minverso’s parent company is Metaverso Ltda., a Chilean start up created in 2015, which hosts metaverses aimed at various areas, such as education and culture. For its work in mining, Metaverso Ltda. has received multiple awards, including the NTT Data Foundation’s Attitude 2022 Award, and an award, also last year, from Metawards held in Spain. Also, its CTO, Rodrigo González, was included in the list of the 100 young leaders 2021, prepared by the newspaper El Mercurio and the Adolfo Ibáñez University.
