Minera Candelaria – Lundin Mining will offer a virtual tour of its operations in Tierra Amarilla and Caldera to those who visit its stand in the Mining Pavilion at Expomin 2023. Through technology with VR viewers and 360° videos, people will be able to experience and virtually tour areas such as the mine pit, the concentrator plant, maintenance workshops, the Punta Padrones Mechanized Clean Port and the desalination plant, among others. Likewise, visitors to the company’s stand will have the opportunity to receive information about its sustainable water management, which allows it to supply 100% of its operational requirements with desalinated seawater; environmental management, certified ISO 14001 since 1999; and energy management, which currently allows it to supply 80% of its energy with electricity from renewable sources. They will also be able to learn details of the company’s recent award of the Copper Mark international seal, which recognizes its commitment to responsible and sustainable copper production and makes it the first mining company in the Atacama Region to achieve this. Finally, visitors to the Minera Candelaria stand will learn about the company’s management of diversity and inclusion, developing programs to increase the participation of women in its operations; its commitment to community development, focusing mainly on infrastructure projects, productive development, education, health and culture; and its important socioeconomic impact in Atacama, as it is the source of employment for more than 7,000 people, including its own workers and those of contractors, in addition to the requirements of supplies and services to suppliers in the region and the country.
