The XVII International Mining Exhibition and Congress, Expomin 2023, which will take place between April 24 and 27, 2023, will be held at the Parque Fisa fairgrounds on more than 95 thousand square meters. The largest international meeting in Latin America dedicated to the mining sector is organized by Fisa of the GL events Group, which will present an extensive program of activities with the active participation of mining companies, suppliers of high technological capacity, startups and key institutions that are part of the mining ecosystem. With the presence of more than 1,200 exhibitors from 35 countries, including Germany, France, Canada, Australia, Peru, the United States, Spain and Brazil, among others, it is estimated that more than 50 thousand professional visitors will attend. Likewise, it is projected that more than US$ 1 billion in business will be transacted during the event. The executive director of Expomin, Francisco Sotomayor, informed that “the meeting will show the world Chile’s development in mining, seeking to contribute to relations and links between supplier countries in the sector, promoting the development of mining in the region. It will also be a meeting point where the transfer of knowledge, experiences and the offer of technologies that contribute to innovation and increased productivity in the industry will be promoted”. Sotomayor also indicated that “in this new 2023 version we hope to contribute to the generation of employment, promoting economic recovery and the development of the industry, opening up opportunities of international scope, both for Chile and the rest of the world”. In its previous version, held in 2021, more than US$ 679 million was transacted, with more than 46,000 on-site visits and 15,000 virtual visits through its Expomin Connect platform. INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS Expomin 2023 will hold its International Congress in parallel, an instance that will allow the exchange of information in the sector, with the participation of panelists from government, industry and companies specialized in mining, who will present their projects, operations, and the opportunities and challenges in Chile and the region. The congress will cover the main strategic topics of the sector, among them, Mining in the Region, Mining Challenges; Trends in Sustainability and Socio-environmental Issues; Energy Efficiency in Mining: Reducing our carbon footprint; Circular Mining: Technologies oriented to waste management; Desalination Technologies: Environmental Impacts and Opportunities; Sonami Responsible Sourcing Committee; Presentation of copper-related projects; Presentation of Lithium, Gold and other projects; Exploration Challenges; People Development, Inclusion and Gender Equity; and Digitalization and Cybersecurity in Mining. Currently, Chile maintains a great attractiveness for mining projects, ranking among the 10 countries with the highest investments in mining exploration.
