Santiago, Chile. – As part of Finland’s National Day, the official residence of the Nordic country in Chile was the setting for the official launch of its participation as a special guest country at Expomin 2025, the largest mining event in Latin America.
The ceremony was attended by Johanna Kotkajärvi, Ambassador of Finland in Chile; Francisco Sotomayor, executive director of FISA; Patricio Hidalgo, executive president of Anglo American in Chile; Carola Fuentes, general manager of FISA; representatives of the Chilean-Finnish Chamber of Commerce and Mining Finland. During the event, the importance of this collaboration was highlighted and the contributions of the Nordic country to the next edition of the fair were projected.

Finland, a recognized leader in innovation and technology applied to mining, will bring to Expomin 2025 its experience in sustainability, digital transformation, education and community engagement.

Johanna Kotkajärvi, Ambassador of Finland, commented that “Finland comes to Expomin 2025 with a clear proposal: to share knowledge, collaborate on common challenges and build a more sustainable future for the mining industry in Chile and globally. Our participation in Expomin is not just a technology showcase; it is an invitation to imagine what we can achieve together.”

“Chile and Finland share a vision of progress based on knowledge, innovation and respect for the environment and people. This event, and our participation marks a historic opportunity to transform this vision into action, creating a positive and lasting impact,” concluded Kotkajärvi.
Finnish participation so far includes 15 companies confirmed as exhibitors at the fair. Rodrigo Tapia González, president of the Chilean-Finnish Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the contribution.
“The companies that are confirmed today and that are going to participate have a gigantic value proposition, and that is to accompany the mining industry in this transition to be more efficient and sustainable,” he said.

Francisco Sotomayor, executive director of FISA, emphasized that “Finland is a country widely admired for its excellence in education and its strong emphasis on sustainability, innovation and human capital, fundamental pillars for the development of the mining sector. Having their support is not only a great choice, but a tremendous opportunity to address the main needs of the industry in Chile”.

Expomin 2025, which will be held between April 22 and 25 at Espacio Riesco, already has 80% of the exhibition sold or committed, and is projected to be one of the largest editions in history, with around 1,350 exhibitors and the reception of more than 70,000 visitors.
